The Gang Life In Rio de Janeiro

It is deeply contended that the city of Rio de Janeiro, with its population of 10 million residents, is amongst the most violent cities in the world. If you had any doubts about that, just take a look at the pictures below taken by a Portuguese photographer.

There are pictures showing gangs, complete with their latest weapons and ammunitions. You see the police and militia trying to fight the rising tide of crime, with more violence, even having to start gun battles in broad daylight. Even when the youth of Rio de Janeiro indulges in a few moments of fun and play with other younger kids around, he doesn’t do it without it without his weaponry on him. The pictures of funerals, pall bearers carrying the body of another victim, graves being visited by elderly parents are pictures of victims who may not have been wounded in gun battles, but are scarred for life.
