Rescuing A Kitten With An Umbrella

An umbrella or parasol is a canopy that is designed to protect a person against rain or sunlight. The word parasol usually refers to an item designed to protect from the sun; umbrella refers to a device more suited to protect from rain. Often the difference is the material; some parasols are not waterproof.

Umbrellas and parasols are primarily hand-held portable devices designed to shield an individual from sun or rain, and are sized for personal use. Today, larger parasols are often used as fixed or semi-fixed devices, used with patio tables or other outdoor furniture, or as points of shade on a sunny beach. The collapsible (or folding) umbrella may have first been used in China and had sliding levers similar to those in use today.

Parasols are sometimes called sunshades. An umbrella may also be called a brolly (this slang is used in UK), parapluie (this slang has French origin),rainshade, gamp, bumbershoot (an American slang), or umbrolly (a slang that is used in the UK).

In 1928, Hans Haupt’s pocket umbrellas appeared. In 1969, Bradford E Phillips, the owner of Totes Incorporated of Loveland, Ohio obtained a patent for the first “working folding umbrella”.

Umbrellas have also been fashioned into hats as early as 1880 and at least as recently as 1987.

Golf umbrellas, one of the largest sizes in common use, are typically around 62 inches (157 cm) across, but can range anywhere from 60 to 70 inches (150 to 180 cm).

Umbrellas are now a consumer product with a large global market. As of 2008, most umbrellas worldwide are made in China, mostly in the Guangdong, Fujian and Zhejiang provinces. The city of Shangyu alone had more than a thousand umbrella factories. In the US alone, about 33 million umbrellas, worth $348 million, are sold each year.

Two Very Unusual Friends

Friendship is a relationship of mutual affection between two or more people. Friendship is a stronger form of interpersonal bond than an association.

Friendship has been studied in academic fields such as sociology, social psychology, anthropology, and philosophy. Various academic theories of friendship have been proposed, including social exchange theory, equity theory, relational dialectics, and attachment styles. A World Happiness Database study found that people with close friendships are much happier.

Although there are many forms of friendship, some of which may vary from place to place, certain characteristics are present in many types of friendship.

Such characteristics include affection, sympathy, empathy, honesty, altruism, mutual understanding and compassion, enjoyment of each other’s company, trust, and the ability to be oneself, express one’s feelings, and make mistakes without fear of judgment from the friend.

While there is no practical limit on what types of people can form a friendship, friends tend to share common backgrounds, occupations, or interests, and have similar demographics.

In the typical sequence of an individual’s emotional development, friendships come after parental bonding and before pair bonding. In the intervening period between the end of early childhood and the onset of full adulthood, friendships are often the most important relationships in the emotional life of the adolescent, and are often more intense than relationships later in life. The absence of friends can be emotionally damaging.

The evolutionary psychology approach to human development has led to the theory of Dunbar’s number, proposed by British anthropologist Robin Dunbar. He theorized that there is a limit of approximately 150 people with whom a human can maintain stable social relationships.

Special Armor For Your Cat

Armour, commonly called armor, is a covering that is used to protect an object, individual, or a vehicle from direct contact weapons or projectiles, usually during combat, or from a dangerous environment or action (e.g., cycling, construction sites, etc.).Personal armor is used to protect soldiers and such war animals as war horses (the application for the latter called barding). Vehicle armor is used on warships and armored fighting vehicles.

The word “armour” was introduced into use in the Middle Ages as a borrowing from the French. It is dated from 1297, as a “mail, defensive covering worn in combat” from Old French armoire, itself derived from the Latin armatura “arms and/or equipment” with the root arma “arms or gear”.

Throughout recorded history armor has been made from various materials: from rudimentary leather protection, personal armor evolved to Mail and full plated suits of armor. For much of military history the manufacture of metal personal armor has dominated the technology and employment of armor, which drove the development of many important technologies of the Ancient World, including wood lamination, mining, metal refining, vehicle manufacture, leather processing, and later decorative metal working. Its production influenced the industrial revolution and commercial development of metallurgy and engineering. Armor most influenced the development of firearms, which revolutionized warfare.

Very Delicious Grumpy Cat Cake Pops

Grumpy Cat (born April 4, 2012), real name Tardar Sauce, is a female cat and a huge Internet celebrity known for her grumpy facial expression. Her owner Tabatha Bundesen says that her permanently grumpy-looking face is due to feline dwarfism. Grumpy Cat’s popularity originated from a picture posted to the website Reddit by Bundesen’s brother Bryan on September 22, 2012. It was made into an image macro with grumpy captions. “The Official Grumpy Cat” on Facebook has over 1.3 million Likes. Grumpy Cat was featured on the front page of The Wall Street Journal on May 30, 2013.

The Bundesens say that Tardar Sauce’s face appears grumpy because of feline dwarfism and an under bite. She and her brother Pokey were born to normal parents with “a flat face, bubble eyes, and a short tail”.  Tardar Sauce is undersized and has hind legs that “are a bit different”. Ironically, Tardar Sauce is calm and “actually really nice,” whereas Pokey has a grumpy personality.

According to the Bundesens, Tardar Sauce is a normal cat “99% of the time”. Photo sessions are only once a week, and handling by strangers is limited.  At SXSW Tardar Sauce made limited two-hour appearances each day as Grumpy Cat.

Cat Avengers Will Blow Your Mind With Their Cuteness

The Avengers is a famous team of superheroes, appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The team made its first appearance in The Avengers #1 (Sept. 1963), created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist/co-plotter Jack Kirby, following the trend of super-hero teams after the success of DC Comics’ Justice League of America.

Labeled Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the Avengers originally consisted of Iron Man, Ant-Man, the Wasp, Thor, and the Hulk. The original Captain America was discovered, trapped in ice (issue #4), and joined the group after they revived him. A rotating roster became a hallmark, although one theme remained consistent: the Avengers fight “the foes no single superhero can withstand.” The team, famous for its battle cry of “Avengers Assemble!”, has featured humans, mutants, robots, aliens, supernatural beings, and even former villains.

The 2012 live-action feature film Marvel’s The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon, set numerous records during its box office run, including the biggest opening debut in North America, with a weekend gross of $207.4 million. A second Avengers film titled The Avengers: Age of Ultron is set for release on May 1, 2015.

The team debuted in The Avengers #1 (Sept. 1963), using characters created primarily by writer-editor Stan Lee with penciller and co-plotter Jack Kirby. This initial series, published bi-monthly through issue #6 (July 1964) and monthly thereafter ran through issue #402 (Sept. 1996), with spinoffs including several annuals, miniseries and a giant-size quarterly sister series that ran briefly in the mid-1970s.

Huge Cat Sculpture Made Out Of Butter

Butter is a dairy product made by churning fresh or fermented cream or milk. It is generally used as a spread and a condiment, as well as in cooking, such as baking, sauce making, and pan frying. Butter consists of butterfat, milk proteins and water.

Most frequently butter is made from cows’ milk, butter can also be manufactured from the milk of other mammals, including sheep, goats, buffalo, and yaks. Salt, flavorings and preservatives are sometimes added to butter. Rendering butter produces clarified butter or ghee, which is almost entirely butterfat.

Butter is a water-in-oil emulsion resulting from an inversion of the cream, an oil-in-water emulsion; the milk proteins are the emulsifiers. Butter remains a solid when refrigerated, but softens to a spreadable consistency at room temperature, and melts to a thin liquid consistency at 32–35 °C. The density of butter is 911 g/L.

Butter generally has a pale yellow color, but varies from deep yellow to nearly white. Its unmodified color is dependent on the animals’ feed and is commonly manipulated with food colorings in the commercial manufacturing process, most commonly annatto or carotene.

The word butter derives from the Latin butyrum, which is the latinisation of the Greek βούτυρον (bouturon). This may have been a construction meaning “cow-cheese”, from βοῦς (bous), “ox, cow” + τυρός (turos), “cheese”, but perhaps this is a false etymology of a Scythian word.

Cat With Vampire Like Teeth

A tooth (plural teeth) is a small, calcified, whitish structure found in the jaws (or mouths) of many vertebrates and used to break down food. Many animals, particularly carnivores, also use teeth for hunting or for defense. The roots of teeth are covered by gums. Teeth are not made of bone, but rather of multiple tissues of varying density and hardness. The cellular tissues that ultimately become teeth originate from the embryonic germ layer, the ectoderm

The general structure of teeth is similar across the vertebrates, although there is considerable variation in their form and position. The teeth of mammals have deep roots, and this pattern is also found in some fish, and in crocodilians.

In most teleost fish, however, the teeth are attached to the outer surface of the bone, while in lizards they are attached to the inner surface of the jaw just by one side. In cartilaginous fish, such as sharks, the teeth are attached by tough ligaments to the hoops of cartilage that form the jaw.

Teeth are among the most distinctive (and long-lasting) features of mammals. Paleontologists use teeth to identify fossil species and determine their relationships. The shape of the animal’s teeth are related to its diet. For example, plant matter is very hard to digest, so herbivores have many molars for chewing and grinding. Carnivores, on the other hand, need canines to kill prey and to tear meat.

Hat That Makes You Look Like Grumpy Cat

A hat is a head covering. It can be worn for protection against the elements, for ceremonial or religious reasons, for safety, or as a fashion accessory. In the past, hats were an indicator of social status. In the military, they may denote nationality, branch of service, rank and/or regiment.

One of the first pictorial depictions of a hat appears in a Thebes tomb painting which shows a man wearing a conical straw hat. Other early hats were the Pileus, a simple skull cap; the Phrygian cap, worn by freed slaves in Greece and Rome; and the Greek petasos, the first known hat with a brim. Women wore veils, kerchiefs, hoods, caps and wimples. St. Clement, the patron saint of felthatmakers, is said to have discovered wool felt when he filled his sandals with flax fibers to protect his feeef.

Structured hats for women similar to those of male courtiers began to be worn in the late 16th century. The term ‘milliner’ comes from the Italian city of Milan, where the best quality hats were made in the 18th century. Millinery was traditionally a woman’s occupation, with the milliner not only creating hats and bonnets but also choosing lace, trimmings and accessories to complete an outfit.

In the first half of the 19th century, women wore bonnets that gradually became larger, decorated with ribbons, flowers, feathers, and gauze trims.

Dutch Artist Who Turned His Dead Cat Into A Remote Helicopter

A helicopter (informally known as a “chopper” or a “helo”) is a type of rotorcraft in which lift and thrust are supplied by one or more engine-driven rotors. This allows the helicopter to take off and land vertically, to hover, and to fly forwards, backwards, and laterally.

These attributes allow helicopters to be used in congested or isolated areas where fixed-wing aircraft would usually not be able to take off or land. The capability to efficiently hover for extended periods of time allows a helicopter to accomplish tasks that fixed-wing aircraft and other forms of vertical takeoff and landing aircraft cannot perform.

The word helicopter is adapted from the French hélicoptère, coined by Gustave de Ponton d’Amecourt in 1861, which originates from the Greek helix/helik- (ἕλιξ) = “twisted, curved” and pteron (πτερόν) = “wing”.

Helicopters were developed and built during the first half-century of flight, with the Focke-Wulf Fw 61 being the first operational helicopter in 1936. Some helicopters reached limited production, but it was not until 1942 that a helicopter designed by Igor Sikorsky reached full-scale production, with 131 aircraft built. Though most earlier designs used more than one main rotor, it is the single main rotor with anti-torque tail rotor configuration that has become the most common helicopter configuration. Tandem rotor helicopters are also in widespread use, due to their better payload capacity. Quad rotor helicopters and other types of multi copter have been developed for specialized applications.

Hen That Adopted Little Kittens

A kitten is a juvenile domesticated cat. A feline litter usually consists of two to five kittens. To survive, kittens need the care of their mother for the first several weeks of their life. Kittens are highly social animals and spend most of their waking hours playing and interacting with available companions.

The word “kitten” derives from Middle English kitoun (ketoun, kyton etc.), which itself came from Old Frenchchitoun, cheton: “kitten”.

The young of big cats are called cubs rather than kittens. Either term may be used for the young of smaller wild felids such as ocelots, caracals, and lynx, but “kitten” is usually more common for these species.

A feline litter usually consists of two to five kittens. The kits are born after age station that lasts between 64 and 67 days, with an average length of 66 days. Kittens emerge in a sac called the amnion which is bitten off and eaten by the mother cat.

For the first several weeks, kittens are unable to urinate or defecate without being stimulated by their mother. They are also unable to regulate their body temperature for the first three weeks, so kittens born in temperatures less than 27°C (80 °F) can die from exposure if they are not kept warm by their mother.

The mother’s milk is very important for the kittens’ nutrition and proper growth. This milk transfers antibodies to the kittens, which helps protect them against infectious disease.
