Princess Peach Toadstool is a character in Nintendo’s Mario series. She is the Princess of the fictitious Mushroom Kingdom and often plays the damsel in distress role within the series. In 2007, Princess Peach landed on Forbes magazine’s Wealthiest Fictional People list, with a fortune upwards of $1 billion. She is ranked 10th in Electronic Gaming Monthly’s Top Ten Video Game Politicians list. Princess Peach’s initial appearance was drawn by Shigeru Miyamoto. Miyamoto later asked Yōichi Kotabe to redraw Peach with his instructions. He had asked Kotabe to draw her eyes to be “a little cat-like” and that she should look “stubborn, but cute”. With Kotabe’s influence, Princess Peach changed considerably throughout her gaming system. Peach was not a playable character in New Super Mario Bros. Wii because it would require special programming on how the game handles her dress, however, she is the main protagonist in Super Princess Peach and is a playable player in most side Mario games like Mario Party and Mario Kart. She is said to have a love relationship with Mario, and her best friend and partner is Princess Daisy. Princess Peach has long hair that is golden in color, large cyan eyes, a tall height, a slender but curvy figure, and a rosy complexion. Peach’s makeup is black mascara and pink lipstick. She wears a long pink gown with a dark pink ruffled collar, a dark pink hem, short puffed sleeves, and dark pink panniers. Her accessories are red pumps, white opera gloves, a sapphire pendant, sapphire earrings, and a gold tiara with sapphires and rubies.

The Mushroom Kingdom is the setting in the Super Mario series where most of the games take place. It is a monarchy and its heir is Princess Peach. The chancellor of the kingdom is its head of government in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars; however, he has not appeared since. Its capital, first appearing in Paper Mario, is Toad Town. Surrounding Toad Town are several territories, such as Dry Dry Desert. Though Princess Peach and the Mario brothers are human, the citizens of this area are the mushroom-like Toads. Super Mario Bros. 3 is set in the Mushroom World, a collection of eight kingdoms. Seven of these are “Mushroom Kingdoms”, and are ruled by independent Mushroom World kings. The eighth world is referred to as “Dark Land”, and is ruled by Bowser, King of the Koopas. The instruction manual for the game states Bowser had taken over the Mushroom Kingdom, and the Mushroom Kingdom is a gateway to the Mushroom World, but this is never elaborated upon in Super Mario Bros. 3 or any other game.
Super Mario World introduced Dinosaur Land, a separate continent where Mario, Luigi and Princess Toadstool go for a vacation after the events of Super Mario Bros. 3. Yoshi’s Island, home of the Yoshis, is located within Dinosaur Land.
Super Mario 64 introduced Peach’s Castle, which serves as a hub world. The worlds in the game are reached by jumping into paintings, which are portals to imaginary worlds created by Bowser. As such, the game is largely not set in the Mushroom Kingdom.

The X-Men are a superhero team in the Marvel Comics Universe. They were created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, and first appeared in The X-Men #1 (September 1963). The basic concept of the X-Men is that under a cloud of increasing anti-mutant sentiment, Professor Xavier created a haven at his Westchester mansion to train young mutants to use their powers for the benefit of humanity, and to prove mutants can be heroes. Xavier recruited Cyclops, Iceman, Angel, Beast, and Marvel Girl, calling them “X-Men” because they possess special powers due to their possession of the “X-gene,” a gene which normal humans lack and which gives mutants their abilities. Early on, however, the “X” in X-Men stood for “extra” power which normal humans lacked. It was also alluded to that mutations occurred as a result of radiation exposure.
The first issue also introduced the team’s archenemy, Magneto, who would continue to battle the X-Men for decades throughout the comic’s history, both on his own and with his Brotherhood of Mutants (introduced in issue #4). The X-Men universe also includes such notable heroes as Wolverine, Storm, Emma Frost, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Shadowcat, Rogue and Gambit. Besides the Brotherhood of Mutants, other villains that the X-Men have fought include the Sentinels, Apocalypse, Mister Sinister, and the Hellfire Club.
The X-Men comics have been adapted into other media, including animated television series, video games, and a commercially successful series of films.
